The price of Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) has always been a question and the rumours of GTA 6 being a $100 base price has come to an end. late 2025 several trusted sources cited commentary from former Rockstar developers who strongly opposed the idea of a $100 retail tag. Instead, they said, GTA 6 will likely stick to the current industry "standard" price point for big releases. Even after revealing this info by the developer, there's still no official price announcement has come from Rockstar Games or its parent company Take-Two Interactive.
Based on current info from credible outlets, the base game will probably launch at the typical 'AAA' price of around $70 or roughly $69.99 USD. Some pricing leaks/estimates even show a range around $70 to $79.99 for the standard version, depending on region. For Deluxe Editions, it is widely expected by industry watchers that the pricing would exceed $99. Analysts and articles have indicated deluxe editions could climb into higher pricing tiers.
"Mike York" who is an 'Ex-Rockstar Animator' directly dismissed the idea of a $100 base price for GTA 6. He said that Rockstar doesn’t need to be "greedy" because they will likely sell massive volumes even at the standard $70 price. He even suggested if Rockstar does charge near $99 for a special pre-order bundle, it would include additional perks (GTA Online bonuses), but the base game itself should stay at the lower price.

"Obbe Vermeij" who is an 'former Rockstar Technical Director' also supported the idea that Rockstar would benefit more from a larger player base at $70 than from a smaller one at $100, especially because much of the company's revenue comes from "GTA Online" and "post-launch monetization". Even though there's no official price announcement, we at least came to know that Rockstar has not said anything officially about $100 price of GTA 6.
What’s still unconfirmed is that, Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have not released an official pricing for GTA 6 and We don't yet know how many editions GTA 6 will have. While some developers expressed confidence no further delay will happen, Rockstar still hasn’t officially guaranteed the release won’t slip again. So it means there's still a chance that GTA 6 might get delayed again. The GTA 6 price debate could still evolve as Rockstar gets closer to an official marketing launch.
At this stage, the strongest information available suggests GTA 6 will most likely launch with a standard retail price around $70 and even the former Rockstar developers like 'Mike York' and 'Obbe Vermeij' support this view.
