"Red Dead Redemption" from Rockstar Games, along with its fan-favourite zombie-horror expansion "Undead Nightmare", are now preparing for a major release across multiple platforms on December 2, 2025. It's great to see that, first time the game will appear on mobile (iOS and Android) and will also bring the single-player experience to Netflix Games subscribers, and in addition to next-generation consoles such as PS5, Xbox Series X|S and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. This release comes with great performance upgrades as well, such as - this game release provides up to 4K resolution and 60 fps on capable hardware, free upgrades for owners of the older digital editions, and the ability to carry over saved progress from previous hardware too. In both Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare, the full single-player campaigns will be included.

Red Dead Redemption:-

In Red Dead Redemption, players play as "John Marston", he is a former outlaw coerced into hunting down his old gang by federal agents in order to save his family’s life. This game is set in the waning era of the 'American Old West' and also, this game balances open-world exploration, narrative depth, and action with a sweeping frontier setting. Now, Undead Nightmare on the other hand, takes the same characters and world but flips the type of story. A zombie plague has broken out, and "Marston" must find a cure, fight hordes of undead, liberate towns and survive a horror-twisted frontier as well. Unlike the original, Undead Nightmare leans into horror tropes and supernatural elements which offers fans a different flavour of the same open world engine. When they come together, they provide a full and great single-player experience.

Basic Details:-

Red Dead Redemption was first announced on February 3, 2009 with a trailer that introduced its concept and world. Although this game was going to release in late 2009, the game delayed and then released in year 2010. The Undead Nightmare expansion for Red Dead Redemption was first announced on July 8, 2010. The downloadable version arrived on October 26, 2010 and the retail disc version released around November 23-26, 2010.

The original game and the expansion reached "Nintendo Switch" and "PlayStation 4" on August 17, 2023. The PC version for both titles launched on October 29, 2024. The best part? The upcoming release across iOS, Android (mobile), Netflix Games, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled for December 2, 2025. Console users should also note that, free digital upgrades will be available for players who own the digital editions on PS4, Xbox One or the original Nintendo Switch, and save-file migration is supported between older and new hardware in some cases.

System Requirements:-

These are the official requirements for the PC versions of Red Dead Redemption and by extension Undead Nightmare:

Minimum:

OS: Windows 10 (64-bit), Processor: Intel Core i5-4670 / AMD FX-9590, Memory: 8 GB RAM, Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 / AMD Radeon R7 360, and at last, Storage: ~12 GB free HDD space.

Recommended:

Processor: Intel Core i5-8500 / AMD Ryzen 5 3500X, Memory: 8 GB RAM, Video Card: NVIDIA RTX 2070 / AMD RX 5700 XT, and Storage: 12 GB SSD or more. Some sources list ~30 GB for ultra mode.

Please note that while the above specs focus on the PC build, console and mobile versions are preparing for modern hardware performance (like - 4K, high frame-rates, HDR) per the December 2025 release details.

Since Rockstar officially announced the recent delay, the audience was frustrated, but i think this announcement will impress fans for some time (at least until the end of this year). Anyway, what do you guys think of Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare which are coming to mobile devices, modern consoles and Netflix Games on December 2, 2025?
