Recently, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, "Strauss Zelnick," has strongly indicated that "Grand Theft Auto VI" (GTA 6) will launch at a standard AAA game price of $70 to $80, will contain no in-game interstitial advertising, and will not be a product that artificial intelligence alone could produce. These statements were made publicly during a recorded interview on The Game Business Show with "Chris Dring" on YouTube, which aired around March 17–19, 2026.
This interview quickly went viral across gaming communities on Reddit, Twitter, and on YouTube. Zelnick's comments were been interpreted by industry analysts, journalists, and the gaming community as a near-confirmation of both the GTA 6 launch price and its no-ads policy for paid games.
Everything Important Zelnick Said:
Zelnick did not hold a press conference or issue a formal pricing announcement. Instead, the GTA 6 price hint came indirectly. While being interviewed about in-game advertising, he said: "It's very difficult for me to believe that we would want to have interstitial advertising in a game that someone paid 70 or 80 bucks for — that would seem unfair."
By using $70–$80 as his reference point for what players will already be paying, he effectively implied that this is the price bracket for GTA VI. He also demonstrated Take-Two's philosophy of delivering value for money in premium gaming, suggesting that charging full price and then layering ads on top would be a betrayal of consumer trust.

However, analysts like "Matthew Ball" and "Michael Pachter" have separately predicted a potential price of $100 for GTA VI launch, arguing that the game's unprecedented development cost and cultural scale justify it. So the official price is still unconfirmed.
Zelnick also confirmed that GTA VI will not have interstitial in-game advertising. Zelnick explicitly called this model "unfair" for a paid premium game. He pointed to NBA 2K's contextual advertising — real brand logos on jerseys and arena boards — as an acceptable model because it mimics real-world sports environments. He stressed this is "not a big economic contributor" and exists for realism, not profit.
Zelnick's interview came when he addressed the narrative that generative AI in game development could level the playing field and allow anyone to create a blockbuster hit. His argument: "The bare case for big entertainment companies is somehow that AI tools will mean everyone can create hits. Kind of doesn't stand to reason. These tools may help you create assets, but that won't help you create hits."
Even though Zelnick agrees that AI tools for game developers can speed up mundane workflows, such as: asset generation, repetitive coding tasks, office efficiency, but he insisted that the human creativity, storytelling instinct, and cultural understanding behind a game like GTA VI cannot be replicated by a machine.

All these major statements were made in a single interview on "The Game Business Show," a YouTube channel hosted by veteran games journalist "Chris Dring." The interview was recorded and released around March 17–19, 2026. Within 48 hours, it had been picked up and reported on by major outlets including GamesRadar+, NotebookCheck, Sportskeeda, ComicBook.com, and LatestLY, turning the interview into one of the most-discussed GTA 6 news stories of March 2026.
Earlier in February 2026, Zelnick appeared on CNBC's "Mad Money" with "Jim Cramer," where he confirmed the GTA 6 release date of November 19, 2026 and dismissed concerns about a third delay. He stated that Take-Two tracks Rockstar's development progress daily and would not be committing to a summer marketing campaign without solid confidence in the date.
Anyways, what do you think of his statements? Do you think there will be third delay for GTA 6? Let me know all your answers in the comments, where you can also provide the latest news so I can make a breakdown of it.
